About Us

Clewett Lawyers (formerly known as Clewett Corser and Drummond) is a mid-sized law firm with offices in Toowoomba and Brisbane.  Our diverse client base includes financial institutions, both medium-sized and small businesses, statutory authorities, owner-operators, developers and individuals.

We like being different from other law firms.  What sets us apart are our people, our experience, our commitment to client service and our all embracing approach.  These factors, combined with the way we do what we say we’ll do, means our clients get the best possible outcome.

Our clients know that they really matter to us.  We are enthusiastic about what we do which means we always go the extra mile, weigh up every risk and every opportunity, are innovative in our thinking and deliver clear solutions.  Friendliness is a trademark of our culture.

Clewett Lawyers has 7 partners and a total complement of 40 staff across our offices in Toowoomba and Brisbane.

History

Our Toowoomba office was founded in the 1920s by Edward (Ted) Clewett and was known as Clewett Corser and Drummond from 1959.  Enjoying a long and distinguished history as an institution in South East Queensland, past principals have included Len Corser, John Drummond, Brian Carter and Lindsay Statham OAM.

To meet the needs of our increasing number of Brisbane clients the firm established its Brisbane office in 1999 providing a strategic footprint for the firm's future growth.

In November 2007 the firm changed its name to Clewett Lawyers.  This was an important milestone marking a new era of strategic development but with the same dedication to individual client service our clients have come to know and trust.

In the community

At Clewett Lawyers we have a long tradition of building strong connections with the broader community, and we value the important contributions our partners and employees have made over many years.

We see community involvement and pro bono service as integral to the way we do business and part of our professional responsibility.  Our community involvement and pro bono activities include initiatives such as:

  • supporting and advising charitable and community organisations

  • undertaking Legal Aid matters
  • policy work and submissions on law reform such as preparing submissions on behalf of the Australian Lawyers Alliance State Elder Law Specialist Interest Group to State and Federal inquiries about matters relevant to older Australians
