 Catherine Cheek was admitted to practice in 1991 after completing her law degree at the University of Queensland, a year as Associate to His Honour Judge Skoien DCJ and articles at Barker Gosling. She practiced exclusively in the area of personal injuries litigation from 1992 until 2004, when she recommenced commercial litigation work.
In 1998 Catherine became an Accredited Personal Injuries Specialist and practised solely in the area of medical negligence litigation. In 2001, Catherine successfully represented plaintiffs in the test case regarding recovery of damages of failed sterilizations before the Queensland Supreme Court and Court of Appeal. Catherine was joint chair of the APLA Queensland Medical Negligence special interest group in 2000/2001 and the National and State Chair of the APLA Medical Negligence Special Interest Group in 2003/2004. Since joining Clewett Lawyers in 2005 Catherine has undertaken commercial litigation as well as personal injuries litigation.
